This inaugural project for the Build OMA program is designed to deliver enhanced capacity and safety to ease the pick-up and drop-off experience while supporting Eppley Airfield’s long-term growth.
Things Are Looking Up

Expected to be complete by Spring 2025, travelers and motorists alike will find this vital area of Eppley Airfield enhanced with several purposeful refinements.

Expanding Lanes & Curb Capacity

An additional pick-up and drop-off lane for travelers will help create a safer and more efficient flow of traffic while adding capacity to support growth.

Full-Length Glass Canopy

The outdoor area will be 100% covered by a new glass canopy that will help protect travelers from the elements.

Full ADA Accessibility

725 ft. of curbless entry along the lane adjacent to the terminal provides full-length ADA accessibility.

How will this impact my travel day?

Traveler impact is determined by the phase of construction we are currently experiencing. The ground level of the South Garage will continue to be used for passenger drop-off and pick-up as the canopy and roadway is constructed adjacent to the terminal. When will this project be complete?

Build OMA will roll out in planned phases to minimize disruptions to travelers and ensure the airport remains operational along the way. The Terminal Drive & Canopy Project is anticipated to be completed Spring 2025.

How much will it cost?

The total project costs for the canopy and roadway are $65M.

How is this project being funded?

Residents will not be taxed, and this will not impact property taxes. The Omaha Airport Authority is a non-taxing authority and collects user fees to support the operation and maintenance of airport facilities. The project is currently being funded with approximately $30.9M in federal grants along with airport revenues.
